January 2010-Florida Bay/Costa Rica Vacation

The spotlight of January has been Redfish and Black Drum with most days going double digits on the drums. We mainly fished with jigs tipped with a live shrimp when fishing deeper creeks and runoffs were there was a good tide flow. We also mixed it up and did some sight fishing in the afternoons when the water was a little warmer. We found some tailing redfish some being spooky and some willing to eat. Without a doubt the hot bait for January was the live shrimp on a jig head (troll rite). We also caught some nice sheepshead and of course the dam catfish love the shrimp too. Got to love it when you think you hooked something nice and up comes a slimy catfish! NOT!

I finished off the month of January in Costa Rica for our annual vacation. We fished on the Bethina as usual with friend Capt. Glen Delli Bovi and mates Jason and Min. They worked hard and put us on the fish as usual. We had a blast catching a bunch of Sailfish, big Dorado’s and some NICE yellowfin tuna. Big thanks to the crew of the Bethina for working there butts off and putting us on the fish once again!
