Captain Chris Phillips is twenty seven years old and was born and raised in Pensacola, FL. He has made a career out of fishing using a number of different aspects of the industry to do it.

Out of high school he aquired a captain’s license and began guiding while working in a tackle store. As his guide business, “Hot Spots Fishing Charters”, grew it became a multi-boat business.

In 2001 Chris began covering fishing for the Pensacola News Journal and he still does it today. Chris authors a section called  “Hook, Line, & Sinker” in each Wednesday’s PNJ paper and provides reports, stories and details on all local outdoors events.

You may have also seen his book “Fishing Local Waters” which he authored in 2006 or one of his articles in magazines like GAFF, Florida Sportsman, Florida Sport Fishing or Gulf Coast Outdoors.

Along the way he teamed up with one of the areas best anglers, Captain Matt McLeod and began competing on the FLW Redfish Tour; in addition to many local tournaments that they have partipated in for years.

He is also the host of the Hook, Line, & Sinker Semianr Series which started several years ago and it is one of the most succesful saltwater fishing seminar series around today.

His most recent venture is the opening of “Hot Spots Bait & Tackle” in which he and Matt opened in the beginning of 2009.
